Mini-Lesons 28, 29, 30, 31: Plants, Sports Injuries, Water Pollution and Shoe Lacing

Today's class was full of surprising mini-lessons. Kyle taught about the way in which plants affect the environment in a positive way. Scott brought to our attention the danger of sports injuries and how chronic encephalopathy can affect someone's life for ever. Cameron designed an activity that revolved around a story about a fish named Fred and how Fred's water would get more and more polluted as the students added more contaminants to it. Andrea shared a practical lesson on how to tie one's shoe laces inviting students to try the different ways in which shoes can be tied.

Time was a concept taught by Cydney -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Besides enjoying another set of students' mini-lessons, students were introduced to the concepts of reinforcement and punishment. Danielle instructed students about the senses. Creativity is key in facing the new challenges of the 21st century, thinking about alternative solutions and improving children's performance in standardized test scores. Please watch the video bellow and get familiar with the demands of teaching children in today's world. ------------------------------------------------------------- MIM-LESSONS Today Lorenzo reminded us how simple teaching chemistry can be if the teacher is creative and practical. Mixing baking soda and vinegar produces a gas reaction. Gurvan illustrated his favorite sport by showing videos, explaining some strategies and passing the ball to students. Julia N., designed a lesson on fractions by having students color different slices of a pizza drawing. All lesson were interesting and engaging.  Lesson Plan  ---------
